Description

The CHLOE Toilet Pan is a wall hung pan supplied with the seat and the connecting pipe. It hangs off a frame inside the wall, so the floor runs on underneath it.

Wall hung — plan it at the framing stage

Nothing about a wall hung pan touches the floor. The weight goes into a steel frame set into the wall before the sheeting goes on, and the cistern sits in the cavity behind. That gives you the cleanest look available and the easiest floor in the house to clean, because there is nothing standing on it to mop around.

The cost of that is planning. Retro-fitting one into a finished bathroom means building a false wall, and the flush plate has to stay accessible because that is how the valve is serviced. Decide this before the wall closes up, not at fit-off.

Pan only — what else you need

A working toilet here is three purchases: this pan, an in-wall cistern with a mounting frame, and a flush plate. The matching CHLOE suite bundles all three if you would rather not specify them separately.

Rimless

A traditional pan hides the water channel under a lip that runs around the inside of the bowl. Rimless does away with it — the water is directed around an open bowl instead. There is no lip to reach up under with a brush, which is where the staining and the smell usually start in an older toilet. It is the single biggest change to toilet design in the last twenty years, and it is a cleaning decision rather than a flushing one.

Water rating

4 star WELS, 4.5 litres on a full flush and 3 litres on a half. Four stars is the practical ceiling for a dual flush toilet in Australia, so this is as low as a normal suite goes on water.
