Tile Tray

A tile tray is a pre-formed shower floor with the fall to the waste already built in, and a recess on top that gets tiled. You get the accuracy of a factory-made fall with the appearance of a fully tiled floor.

The range covers SMC trays at 895mm and 995mm, with a channel grate, with a standard grate, and without a waste for where the plumber is supplying one.

Why use a tile tray

Building a shower floor on site means bedding a screed to a consistent fall in every direction, waterproofing it, and then tiling over the top. Each of those is a chance for something to go wrong, and a shower floor is the place a bathroom most often leaks.

A tile tray removes the first two steps. The fall is moulded in and the tray itself is the waterproof layer. The tiler tiles into the recess and the finished floor looks like any other tiled shower.

Choose the grate arrangement to suit the tile. A channel grate runs along one edge, so the floor falls one way and the tiles can be laid in full sheets. A standard grate takes a centre or corner waste. The without waste version is for when the plumber has already specified the fitting.

Measure the recess before ordering — a tray cannot be cut down, so the opening has to be built to suit it.
