Tile Spacers & Levelling Systems

Spacers set the width of the grout joint. A levelling system does something different and more important — it pulls two adjacent tiles flush with each other while the adhesive sets, so the finished floor has no lipping.

The range covers base clips in 1.5mm in straight, large straight and four-way cross, plus reusable wedges by the carton.

Why levelling clips matter on large tiles

Every tile has a slight bow. On a 200mm tile you never notice it. On a 600mm or 900mm tile that bow becomes a visible step where two tiles meet, and once the adhesive has gone off there is nothing to be done about it except lift the tile.

A levelling clip sits under the edge of both tiles with a stem through the joint. A wedge drives down the stem and pulls both faces into the same plane. When the adhesive has cured you snap the stem off at the base and the clip stays buried under the tile.

The clip size sets the joint width, so the 1.5mm base clips give you a 1.5mm grout line. Straight clips go along an edge; the four-way cross clips sit where four corners meet.

The wedges are reusable and the clips are not — buy wedges once and clips by the job. Work out roughly four clips per tile for a large format floor.
