A kitchen sink mixer has a harder job than a basin one. It has to clear a stockpot, reach across a double bowl, and put up with being used forty times a day. That is why the shapes here are taller and the spouts longer than anything in the bathroom range.
The range covers gooseneck and pull-out spouts from the Mica, Mica Fluted, Mica Heritage, Beki, Exon and Romeo ranges, in chrome, matte black, gunmetal and brushed finishes.
Gooseneck or pull-out sink mixer
A gooseneck has a fixed high arc. It gives maximum clearance under the spout and it is the cleaner shape to look at, so it suits an island bench where the tap is on show.
A pull-out has a spray head that comes away on a hose. It is the more useful of the two in daily use — rinsing a large tray, filling a bucket on the floor, cleaning the bowl itself. The trade-off is a slightly bulkier head and a hose under the sink that needs clearance in the cupboard.
Two measurements to take before ordering. First, spout reach: the water should land in the centre of the bowl, not on the rim. On a double bowl, measure to the middle of the far bowl. Second, height — if there is a window above the sink, check the tap clears the sill when the window opens inward.
