A shower rail holds a hand shower on a bar so the head can be slid up and down and lifted off. It is the most practical shower fitting there is — it suits children, it suits washing a dog, and it means one shower works for people of very different heights.
The range covers single and dual-function rails, retrofit rails and half rails, from the Cresta, Deko, Mica, Mica Fluted and Mica Heritage ranges.
Single, dual or retrofit shower rail
A single rail has one outlet: water comes up the rail and out the hand shower. It runs off one wall mixer and needs no diverter.
A dual rail adds an overhead rose at the top of the rail, so you get both from one fitting. It needs a diverter to switch between them — either built into the wall mixer or built into the rail itself, depending on the model.
A retrofit rail is made to replace an existing rail using the outlet already in the wall. That matters because a standard rail needs its water inlet at a set height; a retrofit is adjustable to meet whatever is already there. If you are changing a rail in a tiled shower without opening the wall, this is the one you want.
A half rail is a short bar, usually chosen where a full-height rail would clash with a window, a niche or a low ceiling.
Measure the existing inlet height before ordering a replacement, and check the finish against your mixer — the rail and the mixer sit within a metre of each other and a mismatch is obvious.
