An R & T concealed in-wall cistern for a floor mounted pan. It sits inside the wall so only the flush plate shows.
What an in-wall cistern gives you, and what it costs
Hiding the cistern gives you back around 200mm of room depth and removes every surface that a visible cistern gives you to dust. Only the flush plate shows.
The cost is that it has to be planned. The frame and the tank go in before the wall is sheeted, so the wall has to be deep enough to take them — that usually means a stud wall or a wall furred out to suit. Doing this in a finished bathroom means building a false wall in front of the existing one.
Servicing it
The inlet valve and the flush valve are reached through the flush plate opening, so nothing needs opening up to service the cistern later. That is why the plate must stay accessible — do not tile over it, and do not put a shelf or a cabinet across it.
Bracket or no bracket
The holding bracket is what fixes the cistern into the wall cavity. Take it unless you already have one in place from a previous fit-out, or your builder is fabricating the support. If you are not certain, take the bracket — a cistern with nothing to fix it to stops the job.
Cistern only, or with a plate
The plate is offered in chrome square, chrome round, matte black, brushed nickel, brushed brass and gun metal, or take the cistern on its own if the plate is coming from elsewhere. The gun metal, brushed brass, brushed nickel and champagne copper plates are stainless steel.
