These are shower mixers sold in two halves — the rough-in body that goes inside the wall, and the trim kit that you see once the tiling is done. Buying them separately is standard practice on a new build or a full renovation, and it solves a problem that catches a lot of people out.
The range covers bodies and trim kits from the Mica, LVB Mica, Beki, Kaza, Eleniko, Lantra and Tiago ranges, with round, square, oval and small wall plates.
Why shower mixers come as a body and a trim kit
The body has to be installed before the wall is sheeted and waterproofed. That usually happens weeks before anyone has settled on a finish. Splitting the two lets the plumber rough in the body early, and the finish gets decided later — matte black, gunmetal, brushed nickel — without holding up the trades.
It also makes a change of mind cheap five years down the track. If you want to move the room from chrome to black, the trim kit comes off and a new one goes on. The body stays in the wall and the tiles stay untouched.
Two things to check. First, a trim kit only fits the body it was designed for — a Mica trim will not go onto a Beki body. If you are replacing a trim kit on an existing shower, identify what is behind the wall first. Second, several ranges here share one common body, which is worth knowing if you are buying for more than one bathroom.
