A basin mixer is the single tap that handles hot and cold on one lever. It has all but replaced the three-piece tap set on new basins, and the choice comes down to two things: how tall it needs to be, and which finish you are running through the rest of the room.
The range covers standard, tall and tower heights across the Beki, Kaza, Mica, Exon, Jess, Kenzo, Acqua, Tiara and Bravo ranges, plus care models with an extended lever. Finishes run through chrome, matte black, gunmetal, brushed nickel and brushed brass depending on the range.
Standard, tall or tower basin mixers
- Standard — for an inset or undermount basin, where the bowl sits down in the benchtop. Spout height is around 100mm to 130mm above the bench.
- Tall — for an above-counter bowl. The body is extended so the spout clears the rim of the basin with room to get your hands underneath.
- Tower — taller again, with a straight column body. Suits a deep vessel basin or where you want the tap to read as a feature.
Measure before you choose. Take the height from the benchtop to the top of the basin rim, then add at least 50mm of clearance. A standard mixer on an above-counter bowl is the most common mistake in a bathroom fit-out and there is no way to fix it afterwards.
Check the tap hole too. Most basins here come with a single 32mm or 35mm hole, but some are supplied with none at all, which means the mixer goes on the benchtop rather than the basin.
